Obituary

Obituary for Dale Sollid

Dale Sollid 70-year-old resident of Brainerd, MN passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer and dementia, at the Harmony House in Motley on Monday, February 25, 2019. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 1 at 11 AM at Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home & Crematory in Brainerd, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vaale Cemetery following the service.

Dale was born on May 20, 1948 in Brainerd, MN to Ole and Harriet Sollid. He attended Whittier Elementary School and Brainerd High School. He graduated with the class of 1967, where he met and married the love of his life Karen Nelson. The couple was united in marriage on December 9, 1967 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd and spent their lives living in Brainerd. Dale devoted his life to his family. He was well known around Brainerd and treated everyone like family. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved spending time talking about his younger years and about history. Dale was passionate about hot-rods, hunting, business, and nature. He enjoyed spending time with the Westgate Mall Community where he ran his last business. Dale is loved by many and he will be greatly missed. He had a way of becoming your friend in a matter of minutes with his gift of gab. Dale would want us to remember how much he loved spending time with his family and friends talking about the good old days.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Alisa Sollid, Ambre Sollid (Marion); granddaughter, QueAhnna Owens; sisters, Carole (Will) Gates, Joyce (Leonard) Rudolph, Louise Sollid; and many nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Lawrence; and two infant children.

Arrangements are with the Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home and Crematory of Brainerd.
