Obituary for Evelyn Mae O'Connor

Evelyn Mae O’Connor, age 83, of Baxter, passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital on Saturday, June 29, 2019 with her family by her side. Evelyn was born on April 7, 1936 in Maple Grove Township to Orvie & Alice (Rardin) Holbrook. She married Tom O’Connor and together they had two children. After Tom passed away, Evelyn married Bob Steinbrook. Evie was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mary Circle of Bethlehem, former Sunday school teacher, Legion Auxiliary, Class of 54’ Lunch Bunch, Elks, Bethany Auxiliary. Evie worked for the Brainerd School District #181 first as a bus driver for Special Education, and then as a transportation coordinator for 25 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob; daughter, Julie (Steve) Barthel of Big Lake; stepchildren: Ron (Donna) Steinbrook of Big Lake, Hugh (Deanna) Steinbrook of Martinsville, IN, and Becky (Jim) Teeters of Martinsville, IN; siblings: Bob (Shirley) Holbrook of Brainerd, Sharon Chaney of Baxter, Bill (Toni) Holbrook of Baxter, Gene (Gaylene) Holbrook of Tallassee, AL, and Jack (Sherry) Holbrook of Lakewood, WA; 7 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 14 plus 2 on the way great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
Evie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom; son, Kevin; great grandson, Tate Strege.
A memorial service celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Nursing Home Auxiliary.

Service Details

A memorial service celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
