Joyce “Jo” Mabry Zaiser, age 93, passed away on January 21, 2022, at her home. Jo was born on August 23, 1928, in Luck, Wisconsin to Leonard & Margery (Ford) Mabry. She started working for the telephone company switchboard at 14. Jo graduated from Luck High School at age 16, she then attended St. Croix Falls teacher college, graduating at 18. She taught in a one room school in Wisconsin, until she was married. In the summer of 1951, she took a summer job at Moran’s restaurant in Nisswa, where she met David Zaiser, they married in 1953. After they married, Jo worked at Zaiser’s Souvenir and Gift shop in Nisswa. In 1962, Jo began teaching at Nisswa School, where she continued to substitute teach, well after her retirement.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Ann Zaiser; granddaughters: Belle Zaiser, Natalie Myers and Samantha (Tom) Hess; great-grandchildren: Allison, Eli, Isaac, Rachel, Maia, Jacqueline, Somer, Hannah and Halle; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Leonard “Jack”, Mabry, Jr., Donald Mabry; sisters: Helene Chamberlain, Betty Feske and Patricia Davidson.
A funeral service for Jo will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11AM at Lutheran Church of the Cross, in Nisswa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 4-7PM at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center, and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Luck Community Cemetery
