Obituary for Michael "Mike" Stevens

Michael “Mike” Stevens 68-year-old resident of Staples, MN passed away August 9, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 15 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples with Pastor Kevin Boldra officiating. A visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Mike was born March 25, 1951 in Staples, MN to Percy and Lucy Stevens. He was a welder, an over-the-road truck driver, and also worked with his father at Stevens Towing & Plowing. He later transitioned his trucking career to local feed companies in Motley and Staples. In the mid-2000’s he began a new career working for Central Specialties, retiring in 2015. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, racing, working on vehicles and farm equipment, livestock, and telling stories. More recently, in his retirement, he spent his time watching birds and rabbits, gardening, completing small projects, and visiting with family & friends.

Mike is survived by his children, Chuck (Christy) Stevens of Perham, MN, Tom (Erin) Stevens Grand Meadow, MN, Tracy Stevens of Staples, MN; grandchildren, Dawson Stevens of Perham, MN, Landon Stevens of Perham, MN, Taija Shequen of Staples, MN, Aubrey Stevens of Grand Meadow, MN; siblings, Sandra (Mel Guck) Bacon of Fridley, MN, Terry Boldra of Gentry, AR, Todd (Sheri ) Stevens of Elizabeth, MN; 12 nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois (Paul) Metzler; nephew, Danny Boldra.

Arrangements are with the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples.
