Obituary for Shirley Mae Daniels

Shirley Mae Daniels, age 88, of Brainerd, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Shirley was born in Mapleton, Iowa on March 21, 1930 to Herman & Rosa (Kuhlman) Rohde. She married Kenneth Daniels on September 30, 1949 and together they had 6 children. Shirley loved embroidering, especially baby quilts for the grandchildren. She worked for St. Joseph’s Hospital for 25+ years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Larry (Barb Grant) of Sioux City, Iowa, Byron of Des Moines, Iowa, Ken of Brainerd, Sue Daniels of Brainerd, Teri Card of Brainerd, and Jeanie (Mike) Chisholm of Baxter; siblings: Fern Bougher of Des Moines, Iowa, Sylvia Higgins of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Gary (Nancy) Rohde of Mountain Home, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; brothers Claus and Hans.
A memorial service for Shirley will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home (512 South 8th Street) at 11AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, May 17, 2019. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
